Country Cousin

Country Cousin is a pre-cooked, frozen sausage that consumers can find in their grocery store. The product comes in Original, Maple, Spicy and a Beef Breakfast Patty.

"My cousin, Jack, and I had taken a summer job on a horse ranch in 1953. The pay was room and board plus $35 per week. In those days, that was a lot of money. We worked hard, but ate well. The rancher's wife would have breakfast ready at 5 a.m. on the nose. The sausage always tasted fresh and wholesome, even though we knew she pulled it from the freezer each morning. It became a joke. 'Hey Ida Mae, how you get that frozen sausage to taste so fresh?' She'd smile and never say. Then, on the last day of the job, she revealed her secret. She said she always pan seared the sausage before freezing it so that the flavor would be locked in. Genius. Several years later, Jack and I decided to share Ida Mae's secret with the rest of the world. And, thus Country CousinTM was born."
